What If The Extension Is Not Working?

There could be several reasons why the extension is not working. Here are some of the possible reasons and how you can resolve them:

A. You are not signed in with the correct account

One explanation for extension issues is that the Gmail account that you are signed in with is not the same account that is connected to Basement. If this is the case, the side panel will let you know.

To resolve this issue, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign out of your Gmail account by clicking your profile icon at the top right corner of the page

  2. If the email that you used to sign up with Basement is already logged in, it will appear on the drop-down list. You can log in with that email by clicking it.

  3. If the email is not logged in yet, click the + Add another account button. Follow the prompts to sign in with the email that you used to sign up with Basement.

  4. Once you're signed in with the correct email, the side panel should be similar to the highlighted part of the image below:

B. Q Analysis is turned off

Another explanation why the Basement extension is not working is because the extension is turned off. If it is, the Show Q side panel button will not appear on the right side of your screen.

You can only access the side panel by clicking our extension icon at the top right corner of your screen (if it's pinned), or by clicking the Open Q button on the menu at the right-hand side of your screen.

If our extension icon is not pinned yet, you can pin it by clicking the Extensions button, which looks like a puzzle icon, at the top right corner of your browser. Then, click the Pin button beside Basement's Q for Email on the drop-down.

You can further verify if Q Analysis is turned off if the toggle bar within the side panel is turned off when you open it.

You can resolve this issue by clicking the toggle bar to turn it on. Once turned on, you can start analyzing emails!

C. Outdated version of Chrome

It's possible that the Basement's Q for Email extension will not work well if you're using an outdated version of Chrome. To check if you're using the latest version, or an outdated one, follow the steps below:

  1. Open Chrome and click the three dots at the top right corner. Then, select Settings from the drop-down options.

  2. This will open Chrome's Settings page. From the menu on the left, click About Chrome.

  3. If you're using the latest version, Chrome is up to date will be displayed just below the browser's name and logo. Otherwise, click here to download the latest version of Chrome.

D. Chrome cache is full

Cache that accumulates from browsers may cause extension issues. Clearing the cache could solve the problem. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Open Chrome's Settings page by clicking the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the browser. Then, select Settings from the drop-down options.

  2. Click Privacy and security from the menu on the left-hand side of the page. Then, click Clear browsing data.3

  3. The Clear browsing data window will pop up. Click the drop-down field beside Time range, then select All time from the drop-down options.

  4. Click the Clear data button at the bottom right corner.

E. Harmful Software on your computer

  1. Open Chrome's Settings page by clicking the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the browser. Then, select Settings from the drop-down options.

  2. Click Reset and clean up from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen. Then, click Clean up computer.

  3. From the Clean up computer page, click the Find button. It may take a while to finish the scan.
